Learndirect
is an online learning and information services.
Learndirect is on the internet and can be contacted
on the telephone.
It aims to give everyone the chance to learn
anywhere, at any time and at any pace.
Learndirect offers learning at a time, place
and pace to suit the individual. You choose what
to learn, when to learn - and you can learn as
quickly or as slowly as you like.
Learndirect courses are for anyone who wants
to learn for fun or work.
Learndirect courses are for anyone who wants
to get knowledge and skills so they can get a
better job.
Learndirect courses are for anyone who wants
to to be in charge of their future.
Learndirect courses are for anyone who wants
to improve their business.
There are three main types of courses.
- There are courses on skills for life. These
are literacy or reading and writing, numeracy
or math. and English for Speakers of other Languages
(ESOL). This course is for people who speak
other languages and want to learn English.
- There are courses on buisness and management.
- There are courses on IT skills.
Most courses are online (on the internet). Some
are on CD-ROM. Some course use workbook.
There are free tasters for many courses. You can
try them out first.

People with learning disabilities can get information
about courses by telephoning the Advice Service
(see below) or making contact with a local centre.
There are local centres in shopping malls, pubs,
colleges, companies, high street locations, libraries,
football clubs and even a travelling funfair.
You can find a centre near you just by entering
your post code in the learndirect website.
Contacting the Advice service
In England and Northern Ireland you can call
free on 0800 100 900. You can ring 7 days a week,
from 8.00am to 10.00pm.
In Wales you can call on Monday to Friday from
9.00am to 9.00pm, and Saturday from 9.00am to
12 noon (calls accepted in Welsh and English).

Monday to Friday from 9.00am to 5.00pm:
